AI Role-Play in Sales: How Realistic Practice Improves Sales Conversations
AI role-play lets sales reps practice real conversations with an AI persona and get scored feedback that turns repetition into skill.

Comparing hyperbound alternatives? A line-by-line 2026 head-to-head: what each platform scores, per-user vs tailored pricing, EU-only hosting and ISO 27001.
Pick Sleak if the need reaches past the cold call, if the evaluation standard should come from your own leaders, and if EU data residency, ISO 27001 and an Art. 28 GDPR processing agreement are questions your procurement team asks. Pick Hyperbound if the cold call is the whole job and the stack is North American.

How we check: every claim about another vendor on this page comes from a public primary source — the vendor's own site, its legal notice, its pricing page or its profile on a review platform — and is marked as a vendor claim where only the vendor states it. Where a vendor publishes nothing on a question, we write that down rather than infer an answer. Sources: sleak.ai, hyperbound.ai.

The same question tends to bring buyers to this page. An SDR team runs a few hundred simulated cold calls, the numbers improve, and someone asks whether the system can also assess a supplier negotiation. The short answer: Hyperbound is the stronger fit when the main goal is to improve cold calling and discovery and the team already uses Salesforce, Gong and Salesloft. Sleak makes more sense when leaders define the standard for a good conversation and need that standard to work beyond sales.
The second difference often becomes clear later, during procurement. Hyperbound lists EU data residency on its pricing page as an add-on for both Enterprise tiers, Practice and Perform, and its trust center names the United States as the default location of all servers (checked 8 September 2026). With Sleak, EU data residency is standard rather than an upgrade. ISO 27001 and a processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR are included as well. This comparison reflects the platforms as of September 2026 and looks at three questions: What does each platform assess, who in the company can use it, and how is it priced?
AI Coach for knowledge and conversation practice · Mid-Market & Enterprise
EU-only hosting (Germany)
Try it freeWebsiteSleak is an AI Coach built in Munich to help organizations develop business-critical skills. It connects two modes: Coaching Mode (KNOW) teaches knowledge through dialogue, while Training Mode (DO) lets employees practise realistic conversations with virtual counterparts. Both use a Scorecard defined by a leader. Feedback points to specific evidence in the transcript rather than simply returning a number.
The same approach works beyond sales. At FEGA & Schmitt, Sleak is used in sales, for supplier negotiations in procurement, for feedback conversations in leadership and for onboarding in HR. More than 900 employees across over 100 teams now use the platform. On compliance, Sleak provides ISO 27001, EU-only hosting, an Art. 28 GDPR processing agreement and conformity with the EU AI Act, and does not use customer data for AI training. Sleak is a fully European company headquartered in Munich, with 100 per cent of its shares held in Europe. Pricing is tailored to the individual organization.

AI conversation simulation for revenue teams · Mid-Market & Enterprise
United States, EU data residency as an Enterprise-tier add-on
WebsiteHyperbound is a Y Combinator-backed AI simulation platform for sales teams. Reps talk to AI buyers in roleplay types such as Cold Call, Warm Call, Discovery Call, Demo, Renewal and Upsell, and are scored against customizable AI Scorecards. The product has three tiers: a free tier with 45 prebuilt roleplays, Practice (Enterprise) for simulation and coaching, and Perform (Enterprise) adding Real Call Scoring, Deal Coaching and Conversation Intelligence. Per vendor, the platform supports more than 25 languages including German.
The move toward content and activation is visible in the product. Bite-sized Roleplays cover short, targeted practice, certifications cover talk tracks and product knowledge, and Kota, the vendor's AI agent, analyzes roleplays and real calls across the board and answers questions about them. On privacy, all checked 8 September 2026: the homepage names SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, HIPAA and ISO 27001, the trust center at security.hyperbound.ai lists SOC 2 Type 1 and 2, ISO 27001:2022, GDPR and HIPAA and answers the location question plainly: all servers are located in the United States. The pricing page lists EU data residency as an add-on for Practice and Perform. The public sub-processor list holds 26 entries, 24 of them with the USA as processing location; an EU sub-processor list is available on request only. The privacy policy names IntelligentSystems Corp. in Cupertino, California as the contracting entity, with transfers running on Standard Contractual Clauses. For a European IT review, that means asking rather than assuming.

Both platforms use customizable scorecards, but they do not measure the same thing. Hyperbound assesses behavior within the sales process. According to the vendor, its AI Scorecards track talk ratio, objections handled and methodology adherence. In the Perform tier, this also extends to real customer calls. The reference point is the deal, and the vendor calls the three stages Practice, Perform and Activate.
Sleak scores against a standard a leader defines for their own organization. The Scorecard is not a sales model; it is an empty form for excellence that can read "qualified the need cleanly" in sales and "justified the target price without damaging the relationship" in procurement. That is why one engine runs across four functions at FEGA & Schmitt. How much it changes shows in the transfer study at Schwäbisch Hall: the group that practiced twice with Sleak scored 72.5% on applied competence against 61.4% for the course-only group, an improvement of 11.1 percentage points.
Each approach makes sense for its own goal. If improving cold calls is the only objective, a system designed specifically for that job has the advantage. In that case, scoring practice conversations against a defined standard does not need to work across departments. That changes as soon as another function adds a second type of conversation.
A simulation becomes a training system only when it is tied to a standard that someone in the company owns. Without one, employees are left with a realistic conversation and a grade nobody can explain. The evaluation should therefore start with two questions: Who decides what good looks like, and will that definition still work when procurement asks for the tool next year?
Knowledge has to come before practice, too. A rep who drills objection handling without understanding the product argument will mainly reinforce existing gaps. In Sleak, Coaching Mode for product and methodology knowledge covers the knowledge, while Training Mode covers the practice. An Initiative brings the two together in a development goal set by a leader across KNOW and DO.
In a comparison between a German and a US vendor, privacy decides more often than the feature list does. Conversation simulation produces voice recordings, transcripts and individual performance ratings, and a works council reads that as personal performance data.
Five items belong in the questionnaire: the specific hosting region, the domicile of the contracting entity, a processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR, a statement on whether customer data trains AI models, and the sub-processor list. Sleak answers all five publicly on its security page. With Hyperbound, the distinction between available and standard is what matters: EU data residency exists, as an add-on to the Enterprise tiers, while the trust center names the United States as the default server location and the privacy policy names IntelligentSystems Corp. in California as the contracting entity (checked 8 September 2026). The US CLOUD Act attaches to the domicile of that entity rather than to the server region, so the question survives even with the EU add-on booked. What else these questionnaires test is unpacked in the piece on GDPR-compliant AI coaching.
Work through these five in this order:
Point three is the one most often skipped, because the purchase starts in sales. That is exactly where a cold-calling point solution parts ways with a platform that also runs in sales, service and other functions.
Which department asks for the same tool twelve months from now, and would the answer still be the same platform?
At FEGA & Schmitt that path produced the expansion: a focused sales initiative grew to more than 900 employees across over 100 teams, rating the format 4.83 out of 5 on average. Martina Skibowski, Head of HR, People & Culture, describes the start this way: "What surprised me was how quickly Sleak picked up our terminology. After only a few short briefings, it felt like speaking with someone from our own company."
The basis is publicly available vendor material, checked on 8 September 2026: hyperbound.ai including its pricing page with the tier table and add-on list, its use case and comparison pages and its privacy policy, the product profiles on G2 and OMR Reviews, and sleak.ai with its certified case studies. Claims that come only from the vendor are marked as such. Anything absent from a public vendor page is recorded as not publicly documented rather than estimated, and third-party price estimates from comparison directories were deliberately excluded.
The difference is the evaluation standard and who owns it. Hyperbound scores selling behavior along the deal, with a product built around cold calls, discovery and real customer conversations. Sleak scores against a Scorecard a leader writes for their own organization, which is why the same platform evaluates a supplier negotiation in procurement on the same terms as a cold call.
Sleak tailors its pricing model to the individual organization, with no public price list. Hyperbound states on its own pricing page: "Hyperbound is priced per user, with separate licenses available for Practice and Perform." The page publishes no figures, the paid tiers route to a demo request, and only the free tier is specified (checked 8 September 2026). Price figures circulating on comparison directories are not documented by the vendor.
Hyperbound names SOC 2 Type II, GDPR, HIPAA and ISO 27001 on its homepage, its trust center states "All Hyperbound servers are located within the United States of America", and its pricing page lists EU data residency as an add-on for the Enterprise tiers Practice and Perform (checked 8 September 2026). Without that add-on, the data sits in the United States. The public sub-processor list holds 26 entries, 24 of them located in the USA, and an EU list is available on request only; the privacy policy names IntelligentSystems Corp. in Cupertino, California as the contracting entity, and transfers run on Standard Contractual Clauses. A European IT approval needs all of that in writing, plus the answer to whether the EU add-on is inside the quoted price.
Yes, per vendor more than 25 languages, with German explicitly listed. Language coverage and market presence are separate things: on OMR Reviews, the platform with the widest German-speaking reach, Hyperbound had zero reviews on 8 September 2026. Sleak supports 35 languages and regional dialects.
On 8 September 2026, Hyperbound held 4.9 out of 5 from around 40 reviews on G2 and Sleak held 4.9 out of 5 from 13. Hyperbound has the broader public review base, drawn mostly from North America; on OMR Reviews the picture reverses.
Hyperbound states less than ten minutes for a first bot with a scorecard and two weeks on average for a full build-out (per vendor). With Sleak the timeline depends on the evaluation standard: if the Scorecard exists, first practice conversations run within days, otherwise plan two to four weeks for the first conversation type. Würth started with an 80-person pilot and later extended access to more than 5,000 employees.
On both platforms, yes. In Sleak the custom Scorecard is the starting point: conversation types are versioned with an editable draft plus immutable published snapshots, 18 ready-made templates exist, and your own documents load into a knowledge base with per-team access control. Hyperbound offers Custom AI Scorecards and Custom AI Coaching in both enterprise tiers, per vendor.
Hyperbound names Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, Gong, Salesloft, Chorus, Slack, Teams and LMS platforms; per its pricing table, CRM and dialer connections are reserved for the Perform tier (per vendor). Sleak offers SSO per organization and runs sessions in the browser and over the phone, but has no CRM, calendar or HRIS integrations today. If your coaching process has to trigger from inside the CRM, that is a point for Hyperbound.
When cold calling is the problem and will stay the problem. A 30-person SDR team with enablement living in Salesforce, Gong and a dialer, and a security review satisfied by a SOC 2 report, gets a product cut closer to that job, a free way in, and a larger public user base. Teams that need EU data residency can add it on either Enterprise tier. Sleak earns its place there once a second conversation type arrives from another department, or once data residency stops being something to negotiate as a surcharge.
The market has developed in two directions, even if vendor websites do not describe it that way. On one side are specialist tools for sales calls. Their evaluation logic comes directly from the sales process, and that is where they are strongest. On the other are coaching systems whose standards are defined by leaders and can therefore extend beyond a single department. That distinction often says more about the value of a platform after two years than any feature list, yet it is easy to miss in a demo.
For European companies, privacy is the second decision, and it lands earlier than most project teams expect. If the need reaches past the cold call, if the evaluation standard should come from your own leaders, and if EU data residency, ISO 27001 and an Art. 28 GDPR processing agreement are questions your procurement team asks, Sleak is the platform those criteria point to. If the cold call is the whole job and the stack is North American, Hyperbound is a genuinely strong answer.
